When the destroyer jumps in, the beam turrets you need to take out are located on either side of its bow section. You only need to take out two turrets so only attempt the others if you feel up to it.Īs soon as you disengage the Sathanas, call for more ammo. If you get hit by flak, set more power to shields and re-route power accordingly if one quadrant starts taking loads of hits. Call for a supply ship as soon as you start your run, so you can re-arm as quickly as possible. Set your torps to double fire mode and launch them below 500m from the target. I don't mean as soon as possible as in 'from the earliest range you can' as the flak cannon's will blow them out of the sky long before they hit the sathanas' beam turrets, I mean after the first volley hits the beam turret, make sure you're lined up and ready to fire at the next turret just as the torps finish reloading (20 second reload time if I remember rightly) so that no time is wasted re-aiming that doesn't need to be.Ĭall in reinforcements from the start, and tell the fighter wings to protect you. The key is just to A: Make sure no torps get wasted, and B: Make sure you fire them as soon as possible. #Sathanas freespace full#I seem to remember I basically just dive bombed as if I was on some sort of kamikaze mission, full power to engines, with just enough in the shields to stop them dropping by themselves, so I could fire the torps at short range and then scarper out of the blast radius before lining up on the next 'arm' of the Sathanas, it took a while, and much practice, but it is doable. I'm then praised for disarming/destroying the destroyer, and the next paragraph in the debriefing I'm told I was a coward, a real Vasudan wouldn't run from battle without authorization or something, and that I'm going to be kept in custodyĪhhh that mission brings back memories, took me a fair few hours trying to manage to get all four rather than just the two that you need to get (or the three that I sometimes managed to get ) Was fun getting impaled on the 'wing' when it subspaced, thoughĮDIT: Okay, this is weird.I blew up two turrets, stayed back a little(I wanted revenge on Virgo because it kept shooting me when I was trying to get the third one)and I'm told to blow up the turrets on the Baleth.I blow them up and then destroy it, after that I wipe out the fighters and go home. I bring in the reinforcements to cover me while I get the other wings to 'destroy targetted subsystem'(with the beam turret targetted) and they fire at it with lasers, nobody launches torpedoes or anything. Was replaying through Freespace 2.I've got to the Vasudan mission where you have to blow up all four of the Sathanas' beam turrets, but I only ever manage to destroy one turret before the Sathanas engages it's subspace drive, and I fail the mission.
